Master Works from a Master Teacher

myron-originals.jpgFor 35 years, his thousands of students knew the late Myron Barnstone as a master teacher, who shared with them the precise geometric design elements and critical thinking essential for creating fine art. A testament to his skill is how many Barnstone Studios alumni have gone on to illustrious careers in art-related fields. During those decades, he kept his own work hidden away, not wanting to unduly influence his students’ artistic vision.

It wasn’t until after his death in 2016 that his daughter, Catherine “Cat” Barnstone Szafran, opened his archives, and started sharing his work with the world.

Barnstone was a modern abstract figurative painter who is related to the 'School of London' artists that include Ron Kitaj (who was a friend of Myron), Francis Bacon, and Lucien Freud. Additionally, he was influenced by other English painters including Graham Sutherland and Michael Ayrton.

While some of his work was exhibited in European galleries to wide acclaim in the 60s, before he began teaching, Barnstone’s art is only now being revealed to the American public. A very limited number of both original pieces and gallery-quality prints are now available for purchase. All come with a certificate of authenticity. The original works are signed by Barnstone where indicated; all of the limited edition prints are numbered and signed by Ms. Szafran.

The original Barnstone works and limited-edition prints being offered are updated regularly.
