About Dartmoor Portfolio
The Dartmoor Portfolio
Taken in the mid 1970's during a resurgence in awareness of the environment and the
intricate web of nature of which we are all a part, these rare and remarkable
photographs are a celebration of the inspiration Myron found in the natural world. His
captured images are informed by the compositional principles he taught in his art and
design courses, and the photographs themselves were notably inspired by the works of
Ansel Adams and Henri Cartier-Bresson.
This portfolio is a collection of Myron's photographic studies of Dartmoor, which capture
the dramatic beauty of this wild, protected countryside.
Among the images included are:
ï‚· Clapper Bridge, Devon - over the river Dart (namesake of Dartmoor)
ï‚· A one-eyed hawk living at a rescue location, happy to stay with their rescuer
 An ancient wall – one of Myron's wife Mayali's favorite walls in Devon
ï‚· The wild horses owned by the royal family allowed to roam on their estate
Included also (in the back of the portfolio) is a map of precisely where in Dartmoor the
photograph was taken.
This work was very much an individual creative effort: in fact, Myron himself developed
each and every photograph himself, fashioning a darkroom from the kitchen pantry.
We are pleased to make this special collection of Myron's photographs available.
Readers can see through Myron's eyes as he wandered through Dartmoor, capturing
the wildlife, the domesticated ponies and sheep, the wide-open spaces and compelling
landscapes in these memorable images.
